At the wavelengths used in head spa devices, this concerns red light (around 630\u2013660 nanometres) and near-infrared light (810\u2013850 nm).<\/p>\n

The big difference with ordinary light or UV light: these wavelengths are absorbed by the mitochondria in the cells, the energy producers. This leads to increased blood flow in the treated tissue, in this case the scalp. And better blood flow means the hair follicles are more accessible to the products you use during the treatment.<\/p>\n

Let's be honest: if you mainly do treatments on clients who already have a healthy scalp and are simply looking for relaxation, phototherapy adds little to the experience of what they feel.
