Industry insightWhy cheap head spa beds always break down
Three moments when salons that chose a budget unit approach us. Not to persuade, just the patterns we've seen repeat since 2024.
The acrylic starts to yellow.
Subtle at first, a light yellow haze around the drain. Then obvious: every client sees it. Acrylic is porous and reactive: hair dye, oxidising water and treatment products penetrate the material. Cleaning no longer helps. The basin looks unhygienic, even though it isn't.
The 12V pump stops in the middle of a treatment.
Cheap fixed beds work with a 12V pump and internal water tank. Those pumps survive 10–14 months on average with commercial use. It stops without warning, often with a client on the bed, soap in the hair, and no spare part in stock. Container time from Asia: 4–8 weeks.
Full replacement needed.
By month 18–24, the bed is cosmetically and technically worn out. Clients notice it, treatments get interrupted, reviews drop. The salon faces a choice: another acrylic basin (the same cycle over 24 months) or upgrading to a ceramic installation. Most choose MediRelaxa at that point.

1–2 weeks when in stock, 4–6 weeks for a custom configuration or special colour. You get the exact timing in the quote.

No, installation is not included in the price. The bed arrives fully assembled in one piece, ready to use. You do the water and drain connection yourself or through your own installer (standard plumbing work). Every bed comes with a clear manual and we guide you by phone where needed.
Can I convert the bed into a massage table?
Yes. Turn the water arch around, place the extra cushion on the basin, and you have a flat massage table with a face hole. The same bed, two services.
How does your ceramic differ from acrylic?
Acrylic is cheaper to produce but inevitably yellows from hair dye, oxidising water and treatment products. Ceramic is non-porous and non-reactive: cleanable like an ordinary sink, and still looks identical after 5 years.
